Company Profile

Finch Computer Services was established in November 1984 and initial business consisted primarily of selling IBM compatible computers and electronic design work.  The business was run part time until a customer base was established.  The company policy was then developed to only sell brand name quality product that offered value for money.

As the design and manufacture business built up, the retail section was phased down.  However, it soon became apparent that many customers preferred to purchase computer products from suppliers with computer knowledge.  Therefore, in 1987 Finch Computer Services was endorsed as a reseller for the Total Peripherals brand of computer which today is a well known and respected brand.  NEC appointed Finch Computers an Authorised Reseller of their printer and computer range of products in January 1993.  Compaq followed later in the year making the company a Compaq Approved Associate for their Notebook and Prolinear range of computers. EPSON have appointed Finch Computer Services as Epson Valued Resellers. Finch Computer Services are also resellers of the products of Hewlett Packard, Cannon, Logitech, Sony, Creative, Kodak  and Microsoft to name a few.

In April 1997 Finch Computer Services were appointed the Total Peripherals Group Internet support centre for the 03 and 059 telephone areas.

The business commenced running full time in 1986, and was incorporated as a company in July 1988. In December 1992, the company moved into new modern premises.

1986-87 saw the release of the first commercial product, Watson dMenu, a very simple and secure menu system for IBM computers.  This product was quickly picked up by one of the largest computer companies in Australia and distributed with every computer sold.

The need for computer security instigated the development in 1987 of the CompuLoc security card.  This card was one of a kind with over 1000 units being sold, mostly into defence departments.

Since 1988, almost all product developed and manufactured has been designed to customers' specifications, with most work being carried out under non-disclosure.

The Company has invested heavily into plant and equipment and now enjoys having only the highest quality development and manufacturing equipment.  Most of the test equipment has traceable calibration.  Having equipment on site also means that almost all stages of a prototype development are carried out in the factory so that security and quality control can be maintained.

The company policy has always been to offer quality product.  To meet this requirement all computers and manufactured products are burned in and tested before being delivered.  The failure rate on product manufactured by Finch Computer Services is almost zero.  So confident is the company in its product, that a twenty-four month warranty is offered on most products. The company is in the final stages of documenting its Quality Assurance procedures.
